History

eTumorMetrics was launched as a start-up company in 2015 by Andrew Smith MD PhD  with support from the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Department of Radiology, Comprehensive Cancer Center Tumor Metrics Lab, and Commercialization Accelerator.

 

Through an exclusive licensing agreement with the technology owner, we offer patented tumor imaging software that improves accuracy, efficiency, and analytics in research and will improve clinical care outcomes.

Status

At this time, we have a research team from the most respected clinical care and academic institutions in the United States.

President

Andrew D. Smith MD PhD is the company president and is a practicing abdominal / oncologic imaging radiologist. He completed diagnostic radiology residency and an abdominal / oncologic imaging fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.

 

In 2017, Dr. Smith joined University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Radiology and holds the following positions:

Prior to joining the UAB, he held the following positions at the University of Mississippi Medical Center:

  • Associate Professor of Radiology

  • Vice Chair of Radiology Research

  • Director of the Medical Student Research Program

  • Director of the Clinical Investigator Pathway

  • Asso. Director of the MD PhD program

Dr. Smith is an expert at oncologic imaging and development of quantitative CT imaging biomarkers. He has received multiple national awards and recognition for his clinical research and has extensive clinical trial experience.


He is also president of Radiostics, a commercial core imaging lab.

Dr. Smith serves on the following national committees:

Dr. Smith has multiple patents issued and pending related to various advancements in radiology. 

Dr. Smith has been a primary investigator on multiple grants (including several NIH small business grants) and a co-investigator on multiple grants. He has run multiple retrospective and prospective clinical research studies, including several multi-institutional research studies.
